Martial Arts
Mindy initially studied Taekwondo, earning her black belt during her 20s. Later, during her career in EMS, she steadily trained in the healing art of Qigong and the martial art of Chen Taijiquan under Master Kam Lee and Grandmaster Zhu Tiancai.
This combination of medicine and Chinese martial arts led Mindy naturally to seek out the deeper wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine as her life path. Mindy has been inducted into the American Martial Arts Alliance (AMAA) Who’s Who in the Martial Arts Hall of Honors, with a feature in the AMAA Masters and Pioneers, second edition. She continues in the healing traditions and Taiji traditions of Master Kam Lee, her inspiration and mentor.

Inspiration and History
A true Florida native, Dr. Jaques’ career in medicine began during childhood, helping every injured and stray creature that she found growing up in the woods of North Florida – to the pride and dismay of her parents and grandparents – who were her initial role models, as she comes from generations of healers and horse people. An accomplished equestrienne, during her youth she worked with Arabian horses, in both training and animal husbandry aspects at large breeding stables.
Then in 2001, right after 911, she volunteered with some friends in the Fire Rescue service in New York City. This inspired a dramatic shift in direction from helping animals to helping humans. She began with EMS, volunteering as an EMT for Nassau County. Her passion for helping the injured and the ill continued, and she became a licensed paramedic in Jacksonville. She finished her Science degree in EMS at Florida State College, graduating with full honors on both the President’s and Dean’s lists. As a critical care paramedic she worked in both the public and private sectors; in both rescue and hospital settings. St. Vincent’s honored her with their Legend award for service excellence and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton medal for dedication to healing and serving others. Recognized for her leadership and teaching skills, Mindy became a senior instructor with the American Heart Association, teaching first aid, CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

“The merely difficult we can do right away; the impossible takes a little longer.”
